Dean Raymond, one of my favorite Chicago DJ’s and a dear friend, started Spare Parts at the iconic Chicago club, the California Clipper. A night dedicated to rubbery basslines, sleazy disco, and the kind of machine funk that ties 00’s Brooklyn to the contemporary Midwest, Spare Parts needed a graphic identity that made you want to bounce your way all the way to the club. Motion is a big part of the graphics I use here, each time pushing the envelope a bit more towards 3D space.
