Checkpoint is a creative venture that started from a collboration between Jasper Richards, Nicolas Rinn, and I in 2022.
We initially designed, constructed, programmed, and placed each box by hand, striving to reinvigorate analog interaction in the physical world, something we beleive is especially important in an increasingly digital, domestic, post-covid society.
The Checkpoint camera is the first portable, instant, and free receipt photo machine. It prints photos on receipt paper, so 500 photos only costs around a dollar. In addition to the black and white photo, each receipt has a QR code which takes users to a personal link, where they can download a high quality digital version with beautiful colors.
Three years later and almost 100 locations worldwide, we’ve crossed over half a million photos and grown our team to a dozen. We still make sure to have a personal relationship with each of our locations, creating a node network of third spaces across the globe. This project is extremily important to me, and profoundly changed my life.
